Switzerland and India have established panels to rule whether Washington’s steel and aluminum tariffs are in line with WTO rules. The EU, China, Mexico, Norway, Canada, Russia and Turkey were the first to break the trade taboo of challenging restrictions justified by national security concerns.

The panels will rule on whether America has the right to use the national security argument as a justification to slap tariffs on steel and aluminum imported from other WTO member countries.
