De Duitse industriële productie staat momenteel onder druk, o.a. door de hoge energieprijzen en het gebrek aan hernieuwbare energiealternatieven. Om te voorkomen dat het industriële ecosysteem afkalft en om de aanleg van waterstofinfrastructuur te stimuleren, investeert de Duitse overheid o.a. in de staalindustrie.
